Dr. Heyman is an Associate Clinical Professor and the Medical Director of the Sanford Stem Cell Clinical Center at UC San Diego. He specializes in treating patients with Indolent Lymphoma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. His research efforts focus on understanding mechanisms of disease resistance for patients with lymphoid malignancies; and identifying new treatment combinations driven by predictive biomarkers. He currently serves as the principal investigator for several clinical trials for patients with lymphoid malignancies at UCSD. He holds a medical degree from the University of Virginia and completed his postdoctoral training at Duke University. He has a patient-oriented approach to cancer care, focusing not only on the disease itself, but as well as the psychological and emotional aspects for patients and their families. Dr. Heyman enjoys swimming and hiking, as well as planning for the next adventure with his wife and kids.
