Dr. Mayer has extensive experience in research on signal transduction, modular protein binding domains, and cancer. He was involved in the initial observation that Src Homology 2 (SH2) domains bind specifically to tyrosine phosphorylated proteins, and his laboratory has pioneered the use of SH2 domains as probes for the global state of tyrosine phosphorylation in cell samples.
