An internationally renowned expert on TP53 anti-oncogene and its role in the pathogenesis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), Dr Šárka Pospíšilová has more than 20 years of documented research interest in applications of genomic approaches in hematologic research and diagnostics. Her research focuses on molecular hematology and oncology, molecular and cellular biology, and genetics and genomics of hematologic malignancies (analysis of germinal and somatic changes in the genomes of hemato-oncologic patients, with major focus on CLL). She has coauthored of 215 scientific publications and holds 7 patents.
Dr Pospíšilová currently serves as Vice-Rector of Masaryk University (MU) in Brno, Czech Republic, Head of the Center of Molecular Biology and Genetics in the Department of Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Oncology, and Head of the Department of Medical Genetics and Genomics at Medical Faculty MU and University Hospital Brno. She also serves as Head of the Center of Molecular Medicine at the Central European Institute of Technology.
Dr Pospíšilová is a board member of the European Research Initiative on CLL (ERIC), the Czech Hematological Society, the Czech Society on CLL, and the Czech Society for Gene and Cellular Therapy. She is a member of the Scientific Board at MU.
