Dr. Kiyomi Mashima, MD, PhD, serves as a postdoctoral researcher at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and holds a fellowship as a Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Overseas Fellow. Based in Japan, she is a board-certified hematologist and internal physician.
She earned her medical degree from Jikei Medical University in Japan, where she also completed her residency in Internal Medicine. Following her residency, she engaged in graduate studies at Jichi Medical University while also serving as a clinical fellow in the Hematology Department. This dual role equipped her with comprehensive training in transplantation and leukemia research. In 2019, she successfully completed her graduate studies, which were focused on Graft-Versus-Host Disease, and received her PhD. She initiated her postdoctoral journey at DFCI in the Cancer Immunology and Virology Department in 2020. A year later, she subsequently transitioned to her current role at the CLL Center in the Medical Oncology Department at DFCI. Her current research interests focus on characterizing ATM-deficient CLLs and investigating germline genetics in familial CLL.
