Michele Nadeem-Baker’s Award Winning Cancer Patient Advocacy is on fire! Recently featured on NBC Nightly News, CNN, Bloomberg, USA Today, STAT, Pink Sheet, Fierce Pharma, LA Times and Boston Globe, she speaks on behalf of blood cancer and immunocompromised patients. Facing healthcare disparities and the shocking lack of patient-friendly information upon her cancer diagnosis sparked her work to help ignite change. She is a leading voice and source in the CLL community.
Michele’s patient advocacy calls on her career expertise as a television-news journalist and as the Global Chief Communications Officer for well-known consumer, publicly-traded multi-billion-dollar corporations. She started live video reports day-one from the infusion chair on her CLL clinical trial nine-years ago to demystify what patients experience in everyday language. She continues reporting and hosting programs to help educate patients and caregivers on their cancer and latest treatments on Patient Power and OBROncology, and other online and informational social media programs for The CLL Society, The Patient Story and the patient community she’s co-founded, Kicking Cancer In Heels.
Devoting her work to embolden patients to self-advocate, she actively educates and engages with them, improving health literacy and learning their concerns. This includes co-leading the largest social media CLL support group (13,500 members), Kicking Cancer In Heels global community for women with any type of cancer, its CLLWomenStrong virtual support group and leading AnCan's Blood Cancers-Support group. Her latest podcast series is soon to be released.
Michele is a Dana-Farber Cancer Institute national patient-partner spokesperson, past FDA Patient-Representative, keynote speaker and authored several published articles.
She serves on some Advisory Boards and Boards-of-Directors.
MS-Boston University, Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education Leadership Program, Patient Leader Certification-Health Union, BA-Boston College.
A recent relapse has Michele back in treatment and further fueled to inspire patients and to speak-up for those who cannot.
